STALLION OWNER BENEFITS WHEN NOMINATING IN THE IOWA GOLD STAR FUTURITY:

1) Stallion owners receive one nomination into the coveted AUCTION class once their breeding sells at the Futurity auction.     There are always TWO entries for each stallion allowed into each year's AUCTION class -- one is the "Buyer's" entry (the person that actually purchased the breeding at the stallion auction) -- and the other one is the "Owner's" entry (when the breeding sells -- stallion owners may nominate a mare of their choice in the Auction Class)

2) Stallion owners may do whatever they want with their "Owner" auction entry.   They may choose to nominate one of their mares into the class before Dec 31st of the breeding year OR they may choose to sell that "Owner" entry.     They may keep any proceeds gained from that sale.    The only requirement is that the owner contact the Gold Star Chairman and let him know who will be nominating a mare into that spot.

3) Stallion owners also get a % of the prize money for any foal showing in the AUCTION classes.      Foal owner is awarded 80% of the total prize jackpot and stallion owners are awarded 20% of the toal prize jackpot.     (**Stallion MUST be a current Gold Star Stallion in order to receive any $$$.)

4) Breedings may be carried over for ONE YEAR if mare doesn't settle.   (**In order to carry over a breeding, an attempt to breed must have been made the year following the purchase of the breeding.     "An attempt to breed" must be documented by a licensed veterinarian or the stallion owner stating that insemination did take place but the mare absorbed, or aborted or did not become pregnant and then state the reason.)       Carry over breedings will be granted to the SAME STALLION x MARE breeding.    (**Any substitutions of Stallion or Mare due to death or sickness shall be granted on a case by case basis by the Gold Star Committee)

If no attempt to breed was made -- no carry over shall be granted.
